Yesterday was another reminder of why the Mary DeRosa Charity exists.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Paul Jarzombek and everyone at LRi, we were honored to award a $5,000 grant to a remarkable 37-year-old mother who is courageously battling metastatic breast cancer.
Her story is one that is difficult to imagine. While pregnant, she learned she had metastatic breast cancer. Today, she is caring for her beautiful baby while facing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges of living with a very challenging disease.
Although she wasn’t feeling well enough to join us, two compassionate oncology social workers from Northwestern Medicine graciously accepted the grant on her behalf. They have walked beside her throughout her journey and continue to provide incredible support to both her and her family.
Our hope is simple.
We hope this grant eases some of the financial burden so she can focus on what matters most—spending precious time with her family and creating meaningful memories with the people she loves.
Whether those memories come from a weekend getaway, celebrating a birthday, enjoying a special meal together, taking family photos, or simply having one less financial worry, we hope this gift provides comfort, hope, and the opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Every grant awarded by the Mary DeRosa Charity is given in loving memory of Mary DeRosa, who courageously battled metastatic breast cancer for her family before passing away. Mary’s legacy continues to live on through every family we have the privilege of serving.
We are deeply grateful to Paul Jarzombek and everyone at LRi for making this grant possible. Their compassion and generosity are helping another family navigate one of life’s most difficult journeys with a little less worry and a little more hope.
